Gainsborough Dolphins - Mr P Tribute Swim

The Gainsborough Dolphins Swimming Club are pleased to confirm the Mr P Tribute Swim details.

The event is in tribute to Colin Pitchforth – AKA Mr P.
Colin Pitchforth was not only a prominent figure in Gainsborough in the world of swimming but was also Head Master at Ropery Road School, a keen golfer at Gainsborough Club.

The event will take place on 23rd June 2018, with doors open at 3:00pm and warm up at 3:30pm.

Attached is the entry form to be completed by anyone wishing to swim. Please print off and complete and return as requested below.

The event is open to swimmers over the age of 12 years (age at Dec 2018) with no upper age limit who were taught by Mr P, either at Trenton Dolphins or Gainsborough Dolphins in his later years. We will grade races as best as we can so we have some good racing. It will help if you can identify on the form, your current swimming capabilities – Competitive, fitness, fun or never been near water since ‘retiring’.

Swimmers not registered with the ASA will have to also sign and provide the Insurance Disclaimer Form to be able to take part.

Each event has a £3 entry fee with all money going to the nominated Macmillan and Marie Curie cancer charities.

A commemorative swim hat will be given to all entrants on the day.

Payments by cash or cheque can be made and handed in with the completed entry form at the club Desk on the following nights Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Raffle
We are intending to have a big raffle with proceeds to the nominated charities and would welcome any prizes should you wish to donate.
If you do please contact Alison Thorold – GDSC Secretary on a swim night or via email using - secretary@gainsboroughdolphins.co.uk to confirm and make arrangements for getting it to us.

Sponsorship
We are looking for sponsors of each race, if you know of a business that could support us or if a family or group of you would like to do this we are looking for £10 per race and the business/group will have your name in the programme and it will be announced on the day.
All money will go directly to the nominated charities

If as a family or group you would like to give a raffle prize or sponsor a race please complete the Support Form on the website and return it to us. If you know of a business that could support us with a raffle prize or sponsorship could you please pass their details to us and if not already on our extensive list we
will contact them.

Memorabilia Corner
There will be an area set aside showing off pictures of Mr P and past swimming events as well as old TD swim wear – if you have anything you think would be of interest and would be willing to put it on show please contact Alison Smith using the email below – all items will be return if marked with your name and contact details – MrPmemories@gainsboroughdolphins.co.uk

Caps for Colin
Mr P was famous for his attire – the shorts and T-shirts in all weathers, tank tops and his baseball/golf caps so as homage to this we would like you to all come in your cap for a photo and help raise more money by a cash donation in the cap box.

After Party
Although the club is not organising an official ‘After Party’ we are suggesting to those interested in getting together after the Swim that we will use Canute’s in Silver Street
