Louth Swimming Club Masters and Seniors Swimmers win Lincolnshire County Trophy


Louth Swimming Club had 26 swimmers at the Lincolnshire County Masters and Seniors Championships held at the Meridian Leisure Centre in Louth on Sunday 13/10/19. They competed against 7 other teams from Lincolnshire and won the Carol Patch Trophy (pictured below) with the following final scores –

Gainsborough – 16
Grantham – 15
South Lincs – 12
Louth Swimming Club competing swimmers varied in ages from 20 to 63 (minimum age is 18). Sandra Brewer (63) came away with the best overall female performance trophy (she is seen below holding both trophies) and received gold medals in all of her 6 events! Superb effort Sandra! William McIntyre (22), gained 3 Lincolnshire Records in 100 Individual Medley, 100m Freestyle and 50m Butterfly in the 18/24 year age group and bagged a championship best time in 100m Individual Medley. Great performance Will! Special mentions also go to Mark Johnson (51), who competed in 5 Relay events for Louth and newcomer, Brett Holmes (33), who stepped up to swim in the 120-159 year relay teams.
Overall, Louth swimmers won 7 Relay medals (3 x Gold, 4 x Silver) and came home with 23 Individual Gold, 20 Silver and 17 Bronze medals and many Pb’s. For some of the swimmers who took part, it was either their first or second competition. Mark Anstey, Coach of the Adult Pods Teaching Group, was very proud indeed with his newcomer’s efforts and Lead Masters and Seniors Coach, Sarah Richardson, commented that the overall performance from the whole team was absolutely stunning and she could not have been any more impressed.
